Maximum Registry entry
Specify the maximum size of media that users are able to access in
Note: This Registry entry replaces the Maximum Viewer Registry entry.
The Maximum Registry entry is used to restrict access to media above a specified size. Separate entries are available to control:
- images
- audio
- video
- documents
The Maximum Registry entry differs from the Images | Default Registry entry in several important ways:
- The Maximum Registry entry sets a size limit on all types of media that can be accessed by a user / group, not just images.
- The Images|Default Registry entry only specifies a maximum size of an image that a user / group accesses by default; it does not restrict them from accessing larger images.
When the Maximum Registry entry has been specified for a user / group, the affected media will not be accessible to the user / group either:
- Using the View option on the Multimedia tab of the Ribbon - items greater in size than the maximum size specified will be grayed out and inaccessible
-OR-
- From the Resolutions tab of the Multimedia module - a warning message will display when a user attempts to view items that exceed the maximum size.
For the purposes of setting a maximum size, PDFs are treated as images, so long as an Images|Include Registry entry specifies PDF, e.g.:
